Benefits and ROI of Advanced Production Scheduling (ASP) Software for Additive Manufacturing

Driving efficiency, utilization, and measurable ROI across complex additive manufacturing operations

nPower Scheduler™ Release 2.6: Smarter Scheduling, Greater Control, and More Powerful Management Tools

Philadelphia, PA — January 26, 2026 —nPower Technologies is excited to announce the release of nPower Scheduler™ 2.6, a major update that delivers powerful new capabilities in production scheduling intelligence and shop floor management. This release introduces a broad set of enhancements designed to improve scheduling accuracy, increase operational flexibility, and provide planners with greater visibility and control across scheduling and dispatch workflows.

Intelligent Scheduling with Advanced Batching and Work Center Configuration Awareness

nPower Scheduler 2.6 introduces a more intelligent scheduling core that better reflects real-world production constraints.

Advanced Batch Process Scheduling

Operations can now be grouped and scheduled as true batches, enabling efficient sequencing of jobs on a work center while maintaining visibility into individual operations within each batch. Batches may be defined and scheduled based on parameters such as dimensions, weight, volume, or user-definable codes.

Queue Time and Move Time

Operations can now include designated queue time and move time to account for critical dwell periods before and after an operation—without impacting work center load. Examples include racking time for dipping parts into a finish bath, cooling time after oven processing, or drying time for painted finishes.

Enhanced Support for Additive Printing Technologies

For additive manufacturing environments where printer technology is a scheduling constraint, the scheduler now evaluates current printing configurations when assigning work centers. Jobs are scheduled in compatible batches only where the required capabilities exist. When a printer configuration change is necessary to meet demand, the scheduler accounts for changeover time as part of the production schedule.

In addition, the scheduler creates and schedules recommended print batches for new orders and unlocked batches, giving build technicians clear guidance for optimized part grouping when creating STL files for printing.

Enhanced Visibility and Flexibility for Shop Floor Control

Release 2.6 empowers production managers to make informed scheduling adjustments based on real-time shop floor conditions and enables operators to signal the start and completion of work without leaving their work area or using a separate system.

Dispatch Board

The Dispatch Board allows production control teams to make necessary “micro-adjustments,” such as reordering job priorities or moving an operation to a different resource based on skill availability, without disrupting the overall production schedule until the next scheduling run.

Override Operation Times

When jobs are reassigned to different work centers, setup and run times may vary due to machine capability, age, or performance. Managers can now override operation times directly within the Scheduling Board and Dispatch Board, ensuring the production schedule accurately reflects these differences.

Operation Status Changes

Operators can indicate when setup or run activities start or finish and report completed quantities, keeping the production schedule up to date. This capability improves data integrity and provides customer service teams with real-time visibility into job status and expected completion dates.

Production Scheduling as a Predictive Tool

nPower Scheduler Release 2.6 represents a significant advancement in scheduling intelligence and predictive planning.

“The nPower Scheduler now supports true batch operations and addresses a gap that most discrete ERP systems don’t handle,” said David Bennett, Chief Product Officer at nPower Technologies. “Most systems only support setup grouping or concurrent capacity—not true batch definitions with physical constraints. Having achieved this level of scheduling complexity, we took it a step further for additive manufacturers by incorporating printer technology definitions and current printer configurations to create and display recommended print builds that meet delivery requirements. No other software does this while also scheduling all additive manufacturing post-processing work.”
